In futures forum we are doing online book clubs and I chose the book Ender's game by Orson Scott Card. I chose this book because it looks interesting and there is movie out based on the book so I can see the movie after I finish reading the book. The book should be good and I look forward to reading it.

In class yesterday we watched a very interesting documentary called "War Photographer" which showed the story of James Nachtwey and his experience with war photography. This documentary showed how James would go in to other countries during times of war and poverty and take pictures of people and the things they are going through. Most war photographers usually ask themselves why they are doing this job but James knows why he wants to put his life at risk just to take pictures of other people in other countries. James wants to share peoples stories and show them what they are going through. He hopes that if lots people know what is going on, chances are one of them will want to do something about it. James Nachtwey has seen a lot of crazy and unbelievable things and still manages to keep himself sane. This documentary has definitely opened my eyes a little more than they were. I learned a lot about war photographers and what they do to get important messages across that bad things are happening. "War photographer" is definitely worth a view if you have the chance to check it out.

I think that this is a very astounding fact. This means that there is a really good chance of other life being in space. Also the fact that the atoms in the universe are the same as the atoms in us is really cool and does make you feel more part of the universe than we originally thought. I think that with this knowledge people would feel better about themselves and feel like they are part of something bigger. This greatly increases people's superstition of other life living in space. I also find this interesting because if there is other life in space then that means earth like planets most likely exist in space (I already knew this but this video proves it even more).

In class we were watching the movie "V for Vendetta". This movie was fun to watch but has lessons and interesting themes to it. In the movie (which takes place in britan), most of the world has gone into chaos and the country decides that they need to take action and become a dictatorship to keep their country under control. Most people just ignore the fact that the government is abusing their power, but others take action which usually happens with most dictatorhsips.

In this movie it is easy to tell that there is a lack of human rights and personal freedom. The government is controling the people and abusing their power by setting curfews and raiding peoples houses and putting them in black bags whenever they do something or say something that the dictator doesn't like. Also when Evey is out past curfew random strangers come and try to assault her, it seems as though they are working for the government secretly even though they don't look like it.

As well you see how V takes measures to fight back against the government. Since protesting against the government would probably get you dragged away to prison or killed, someone had to fight against them a different way. V decides to fight them literally and to use explosives to get the message out to the government that they can't always be in control of everything. The government always tried to cover up the truth and make things seem better than they really were. These kinds of governments and protesters still exist today, lets just hope things don't get as bad in the world as they did in the movie.

Just yesterday I went to the communitech building for a field trip during school. We got to see a lot of cool things the companies there are working on and bringing to the world. But i think that the best thing about the trip was going to see the google office! It was by far the coolest work place I've ever seen. Just by walking around and seeing what it's like just made everyone want to work there. They have a slide, a fireman pole, a bunch of cool chairs and even a small gym to go play basketball or hockey. They get served meals every day by chefs who make them food. One of the main reasons why they make it so cool to work there is because they want to reward hard work and they want their employees to stay there once they get in. Overall the trip was a cool experience and made me think more on what exactly I want to do when I get older.
